After the surprising loss to the Chiefs Houston Texans On Dec. 7, the 30-year-old Mahomes addressed Kelce’s future in the game, admitting to reporters at a press conference that he’s relishing the time he plays with the 36-year-old tight end, knowing it could end at any moment.
“Every season I’ve had with him over the last few years, I try to take care of him because you never know,” Mahomes said.
However, the quarterback was quick to note that nothing is set in stone — so whatever decision Kelce makes at the end of the season, he can end the year knowing he’s given the team his all.
“He’s shaped himself really well this year, and he’s played great football,” Mahomes added. “He’ll have the option to do whatever he wants to do after this season, but I know one thing: He’s going to try to give what he has the rest of this season a chance to make a playoff run.”
Kelce previously told reporters at Chiefs training camp on Aug. 6 not to ask him questions about retirement until it happens.
“Man, ask me when I retire,” he replied when asked what his “fandest training camp memory” would be if this season were to be his last.
However, it’s unclear if his views on the future have changed this year in light of the Chiefs’ somewhat run, with the team enduring a disappointing regular season that has seen them lose more than they win.
Mahomes addressed the lackluster performance when speaking to reporters, admitting that his team’s chances of making the playoffs “are getting smaller and smaller.”
“We just have to execute at a high level in those big moments. That’s something we haven’t done this year,” Mahomes added.
Her admission about Kelce’s future comes after it was claimed that Swift, 35, and planning to tie the knot on the weekend of June 13, 2026 at the Ocean House Resort in Westerly, RI, reportedly offered a couple who had already booked the venue for the date a hefty sum to secure it themselves.
Insiders told Page Six that Swift and Kelce want to tie the knot at the Rhode Island location, which is just steps away from the singer’s longtime Rhode Island home.
According to sources, while the couple was Eyeing another Rhode Island location — a gilded-edge mansion known as The Breakers — they recently changed their minds as their plans evolved.
The couple reportedly decided to pivot to venues after realizing they wanted to invite more guests than they had initially planned.
The songstress, who got engaged to the soccer player in August, gave fans a glimpse of her budding romance with Kelis on her new album, “The Life of a Showgirl,” which was released on Oct. 3.
Swift revealed that she has already portrayed her life in one of her tracks titled “Wi$h li$t”, admitting that the NFL supporter has left her imagination of what kind of mother she would be to the “whole block” of children.
“All I want is you/There’s a couple, got like the whole block like you/I’ve got to dream about the driveway with the basketball hoop,” she sings.
The song was just the latest sign that Swift is slowing down from life on the road following the release of her 12th album—which she launched just months after wrapping up her sold-out world tour.
The “Lovely” hitmaker even admitted she was “exhausted” from her busy schedule while speaking on BBC Radio 1.Greg Jamesand indicated that he has no plans to tour on such a large scale anytime soon.
“Are you itching for something else soon?” James asked, to which Swift quickly replied, “No, no.”
He later admitted that he was “very tired” after his long tour.
“Like when I think about doing it again because I really, really want to do it again,” he said.
Her decision to dial things back may have to do with her desire to embrace a domestic life with Kelis, who she says fulfilled her wishes.
“I wish upon all the stars/God’s grace, bring a best friend who I think is hot,” he added by way of encouragement.
Swift made several references to the soccer star in other tracks, even giving fans a glimpse into a more intimate side of their relationship.

And, Swift even admitted that tying the knot didn’t cross her mind before meeting Kelce, and she admitted to her hit “Big Daughter” that she “doesn’t believe in marriage.”
